Rice Memorial Hospital, Willmar, MN

301 SW Becker Ave
Willmar, MN 56201

Rice Memorial Hospital was built in 1937 to honor a trust from Colonel Cushman Rice in memory of his parents, Lieutenant Governor and Mrs. Albert Rice. Ever growing, with a continuing dedication to service excellence, Rice has expanded from the original 37-bed hospital to 100 beds. Rice is the only acute care hospital in Willmar and is the largest city-owned hospital in Minnesota. Rice provides compassionate healthcare, with respect and integrity to patients and their families, throughout a 12-county region in west central and southwestern Minnesota.

When Rice completed a $51 million addition in 2007, the hospital increased in size by fifty percent. The new facility provides patients with large private rooms. There is a new women and children's unit, complete with birthing suites. New surgery suites, same-day surgical facilities, and emergency services department, enhance patient care, as well as anticipate the healthcare needs of tomorrow. The new Rice is a state-of-the-art, intelligently-designed facility that delivers healthcare in an environment that incorporates art, music, light and nature. The nurturing environment supports healing and addresses the inherent stress in the lives of patients and their families.

A registered nurse who joined Rice Hospital last year, said, "I always knew I would come back to this area after graduating - Rice has a lot of the technologies of a much bigger hospital, but with a small community feeling." Another RN said, "I did a summer internship at Rice and liked it here. The people I worked with were really great. We have a strong team here ? we rely on each other and help each other through things. I love the rural area and the lakes, and larger cities are close by."
